After spending a combined 50+ years managing multi-functional teams in the UK and globally for non-profits, and innovative start-ups and now running their respective consulting firms supporting small and high growth businesses, Wouter and Charlie came together during covid lockdown to build a new venture that would help struggling charities survive the pandemic.
While focussing on unlocking the power of the most socially minded generation in history to drive positive change, the barriers to social mobility and employment for GenZ became painfully clear. With over 50 years of talent management, economic development and skills related experience between them, our founders pivoted to developing a career development tool with the lofty aspiration of eradicating employment inequality.
As the team started to validate the new recruitment tool, it became apparent that the skills gap affecting countries around the world, was a factor in driving the market to hire more school leavers and graduates. Yet only 46% of employers say they are finding early careers candidates with the right level of skills2.
What was also clear was that while in-house recruiters are focussed on delivering against diversity and social mobility targets, they are often hampered by an inability to create employer brands that reach and attract diverse young talent1. Yet the financial and operational imperative of building diverse teams is beyond compelling.
We believe in workplace diversity as the biggest social change agent, and the route to creating better employment opportunities and healthier workplaces. The glowbees mission is to create an employment ecosystem that reduces inequality by nurturing young adults to job-readiness, creating better opportunities and healthier, more diverse workplaces.
